The Design Process -- Brainstorming

These preliminary scribbles are the first step in the design process. As information is gathered from the client and other resources, ideas are loosely sketched and thoughts and phrases captured. These jottings represent complete thoughts and illustrations in the illustrator's mind!

In this case study, the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum needed a low-cost t-shirt design for the Shipwright Apprentice program, to be worn by the shipwrights. The artist was asked to come up with some sketches for a one-color design, and was given some background on the CBMM program.
